Georgia car accidents: 2-year-old dies in multi-car crash

Auto collisions can happen in a matter of seconds. For this reason, it is important for Georgia drivers to remain aware of their surroundings. Car accidents caused by negligence often result in serious injuries or fatalities. Sadly, a 2-year-old girl was recently killed in an accident involving multiple vehicles.

According to police, a truck traveling south on I-75 struck the back of the car in front of it. Both vehicles continued forward, striking a truck. That impact forced the truck into a fourth car. Police stated that the driver believed to be responsible and his passenger both fled the scene on foot immediately following the incident. Both men were later arrested.

Though the young girl was properly restrained in the vehicle, she tragically died as a result of the serious injuries she suffered. None of the other occupants of the vehicles were injured. The driver believed to be at fault has been charged with multiple offenses, including vehicular homicide in the first degree, driving on a suspended license, failure to report an accident, following too close, obstruction and driving too fast for conditions.

Loss of life is always tragic, particularly when the victim is so young. In addition to the emotional toll families must face, car accidents may also lead to unexpected financial struggles as well. To help cope with this, victims' surviving families may choose to file wrongful death claims. When these claims are successful, those who file may be entitled to monetary damages that can be used to help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and other monetary damages. An experienced Georgia attorney could help anyone interested in learning more.
