Many different factors can lead to car accidents in Georgia

Whenever Georgia drivers get behind the wheel, they have a duty to their fellow motorists to obey traffic laws and remain aware of their surroundings. When these factors are ignored, car accidents are much more likely to occur. Two people were recently killed in a collision that involved a potentially negligent driver.

The accident occurred late in the evening on June 24. Though details of the crash are limited, officials stated that the victims' car had been T-boned by another car. The investigation into the cause of the collision continues as authorities wait for the results of toxicology reports. They stated that speed and alcohol may have played roles in the tragedy.

The driver of the car that was struck was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken to an area hospital with severe injuries and later died. No injuries were reported from the driver of the other vehicle. It is currently unknown whether any criminal charges will be filed.

In addition to the emotional loss these families must face, they may face financial issues as well. To cope with the financial side of things, the victims' families may choose to file individual wrongful death claims against the driver believed to be at fault. If their claims successfully prove negligence on that driver's behalf, they could then receive monetary damages that could help pay for any financial expenses related to the accident, such as medical bills or funeral costs. Any families who have lost loved ones in car accidents can consult experienced Georgia personal injury attorneys to obtain more information about these types of claims.
